Accelerated Corrosion Testing
The Corrosion Technology Laboratory at Kennedy Space Center has the facilities, equipment, and experience to conduct indoor accelerated laboratory testing. The equipment currently available includes an Auto Technology fully programmable CCT-NC-40 cyclic corrosion salt fog chamber, a Q-Fog programmable CCT-1100 cyclic corrosion salt fog chamber, a QUV/Spray Accelerated Weathering Tester, and a Q-Sun Xenon test chamber Xe-3-HDS with dual spray capabilities cabinets to perform the typical accelerated corrosion testing.
While accelerated corrosion testing is routinely used for quality control and preliminary investigations, it is important to conduct real time, outdoor exposure tests in conjunction with accelerated laboratory tests to obtain meaningful service life data. The Corrosion Technology Laboratory at the Kennedy Space Center has a beachside atmospheric exposure site to conduct long-term corrosion performance testing. All our facilities and expertise are available to customers outside NASA.
